Fly Spy - Getting to know the writer behind the lines - fun activity for seniors

$3.00Price

Ensure your seniors truly 'see' the writer behind the lines of text they study with this fun activity!  Role play a writer typing tearfully/angrily away at the front of your classroom - students are flies on the wall watching, wondering.  Students write questions they'd like to ask that writer, using the template (with or without stickies) and question prompts provided.  Next, they spy on the writer's work - this is where you give them the passage included in this pack.  After reading, they write down more questions for the writer.

Watch on YouTube here!

This resource includes:

⭐ One template for students to writer questions on.  You can have them write on sticky notes placed on top of this if you like.  You can then reuse the template AND the sticky notes can be stuck to your whiteboard for discussion.

⭐ One passage written by Tearful Tina.  3 copies per page to save yer printing budget!

⭐ One passage written by Wound-up William.  3 copies per page to save the budget again.

You and your students will enjoy:

❤️ Actually 'seeing' a writer to appreciate there's a real person behind the texts they're reading.

❤️ A bit of fun with role play.

❤️ An interactive activity.

❤️ The questions the students ask - they turn out pretty well!  Eg:

  • Did you consider the other person's perspective?
  • Is the main character in your story here based on something you've experienced?
  • Why are you sharing this - why would you want the world to know?!

  • Is completely editable.
  • Will easily upload to your Google Drive if you prefer the Googley suite.

Technically you should not share this with others, but ...let's get real (yeah, I probs would too)!  Maybe, if you're feeling squishy and warm and fuzzy you would consider buying two if you're grabbing this for a decent sized department.  Let's help each other out eh?  :)
