This task contributes ONE of two pieces required for Unit Standard 10792 - Level 1 - Version 5. Students write correspondence in the form of an email.  Students write to their power company to dispute a recent bill.  A second task to complete the requirements of US10792 version 5 for level 1 is available here (students write a cover letter).

⚠️Please note⚠️

There is now a Level 2 version of this standard - version 6 and worth only 2 credits. While there is no expiration date on the Level 1 (v5) standard, it no longer appears on the NZQA website. I have spoken with NZQA twice, and they say this is because they assume everyone will want to complete the latest version at Level 2. (I have no idea why they think this.) There is no difference in requirements between the versions. NZQA asks that, when assessing, you make it clear which version of the standard you are doing.  I have made every attempt to indicate this on the tasks and cover sheets.

✅ This same task is also available at Level 2 here, however it, of course, comes with cover sheets for grading, and unpacked criteria for students, relating to the new level 2 version (v6).

This resource includes:

A student task booklet - completely editable, so you can put your own spin on it if you like.

A flat-packed version of the student task booklet. This means it's locked, except for the parts students must type into, preventing accidental destruction of text or format when students are working on it digitally.

Coversheets for grading and moderating. These include NZQA guidelines, space for you to record achievement against criteria, and a table to record overall grading and moderation.

You and your students will enjoy:

❤️ A hyperlinked table of contents page.

❤️Checkpoints to help students manage their time.

❤️Activities to scaffold students to success.

❤️A checklist to help students check they've done all they can to achieve.

Format:

Microsoft PowerPoint, resized to an A4 page.  This means you can:

  • Edit the resource to suit your needs.
  • Print to distribute hard copy booklets to students.
  • Share digitally with students.  They can type straight into the document.
  • Upload to your Google Drive if you prefer Googley applications instead.
