Reading and Writing Activities - Resource 9

$5.00Price

Build the skills and confidence of your year 9-10 students in reading and writing with this NINTH resource in our literacy collection.   This editable booklet is for any students in school or at home who need literacy practice but is designed with New Zealand's literacy unit standards in mind!  Includes a separate answer booklet.

Reading:

  • Students read an infographic that provides a "snapshot" of New Zealand's wellbeing.
  • Students answer questions about this text.  Questions relate to things like genre, style and vocabulary as well as reading on, between, beyond and behind the lines.

Writing

  • Students must write a personal response (150-250 words) about a point of their choice from the infographic.
  • Students must also write a formal letter (the body of which must be 250-350 words) to their local member of parliament about three things their family is doing well and/or struggling with.  NOTE:  a graphic showing how to format a formal letter is included (addresses, date, salutation, line spaces etc).
  • Students then complete a range of activities to show their abilities in the technical aspects of writing (grammar, punctuation, language etc).  Activities relate to the theme of the text.

This resource includes:

⭐ A student workbook.

⭐ A separate answer booklet.
