Language Features - Grouped for Close Reading or Writing

$6.00Price

We all love a good collection of language features to share with our students for close reading or writing activities.  Here, we have grouped features (eg: figurative language, sound devices etc) to make concepts easier for students to grasp, and provided in each group an alphabetical list with definitions and examples.  We have ventured a little into structural features such as sentence structures and narrative perspective too, because we refer to these a lot in both close reading and writing.

(Please note: this is a slimmed down version of our Stylistic Features resource which includes more detail, more on structural features, and formatting elements.)

This resource includes:

⭐ One editable student booklet covering:

  • Figurative language
  • Sound devices
  • Vocabulary (eg: connotations, jargon...)
  • Miscellaneous language devices (eg: euphemism, pun...)
  • Features particularly relevant to persuasive language.
  • Connectives
  • Post words for formal writing
  • Narrative perspective
  • The words of others (eg: direct quotation, paraphrasing...)
  • Sentence structures
  • Deeper meanings (eg: allegory, contrast, extended metaphor...)

You and your students will enjoy:

❤️ Features put into groups to make concepts easier for students to grasp.

❤️ Simple definitions and examples.

❤️ Room to add further features if needed.

Formats:

🖥️ Microsoft PowerPoint, resized to an A4 page.   This means your resource:

  • Is completely editable.
  • Will easily upload to your Google Drive if you prefer the Googley suite.
  • Is printable 📃

🖥️ A FLAT-PACKED version - often better to share with your students than the completely editable version because they can edit only the parts they SHOULD be mucking around with.

🖥️ A PDF version of each document.

  • Sharing/Copying this Resource

Feel free to purchase just one for your department - no need for a copy for each teacher.  However:

    • Please do NOT share with the school down the road.
    • Please do NOT take it with you to a new school.
    • Feel free to suggest the website to others - that'd be great!

That's pretty fair I think!  Let's help each other out.  :)
