1.1 Context Shapes Language

1.1 Context Shapes Language - Generic

$25.00Price

This resource includes three booklets to help you and your students through NCEA 1.1 Demonstrate understanding of how context shapes verbal language use.  This is a generic resource that can be used with any context.  I have assumed teaching of a context and language features (see here for help) happened prior to this.  Students have been prepared to either have given to them by you an unseen text or to choose one themselves.

This resource includes:

A student preparation booklet.  This includes:

  • Checkpoints to help with time-management
  • An explanation of what students must do with reference to the context they may have studied/be about to study in class (I have built NZQA expectation into this - yes, student speak.)
  • Answers to frequently asked questions.
  • A link to the NZQA exemplars for this standard.
  • A completed excellence-level answer, on the template that students will use, including the annotated text.   Please note:  this is NOT an NZQA exemplar - just an example of me trying to get Excellence at Level 1 😁😂😱

An assessment booklet where students fill in a blank template.  This includes:

  • A grading page to help you mark.
  • A pre-formatted template to scaffold students through.
  • Notes within that template to help students see where/how to push further for those higher grades.

An assessment booklet where students write an essay.  This includes:

  • A grading page to help you mark.
  • A suggested structure.
  • Room to write.

You and your students will enjoy:

❤️ Having a completely editable product.  This means you can tweak things to suit your own needs and students can type straight into it if you're sharing booklets with them digitally.

❤️ A bit of humour.

❤️ Helpful things like checkpoints, scaffolding and an example.

❤️ Unpacked achievement criteria (built into the 'what to do' pages of the student preparation booklet and through notes in the templates.)

❤️ Clear indication of what constitutes Achieved, Merit and Excellence .

Formats:

🖥️ Microsoft PowerPoint, resized to an A4 page.   This means your resource:

  • Is completely editable.
  • Will easily upload to your Google Drive if you prefer the Googley suite.
  • Is printable 📃

🖥️ PDF versions of each booklet too.

You know the drill, buy one for your department and go for gold, but do NOT take this to another school.  Thanks for being fair!
